Would a different govt have protected us from this attack?

The Mumbai attacks is going to prove costly to the government.
The irony is that this would have happened irrespective of whichever party formed the government.

In this case, the ruling party was lackadaisical. In other cases, they would have been busy pitting one Indian against another based on religion/caste/state etc.

Making it easier for terrorists to brainwash Indians to join/help them.

The irony is that there was no discrimination made regarding who suffered - those dead include the rich & famous, the poor & impoverished, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Jews, Parsis, malyalees, haryanwis , maharashtrians, punjabis, non-indians, ....

I look forward to a time when people choose their leaders for focusing on relevant things - such as democracy and security.

When people choose like that, politicians will alter their agendas. But for that people need a better education.

I wonder if certain politicians really want Indians to be educated. It will be harder for them to manipulate us then.

PS: Wiki says that the adult literacy rate in India is 61% while youth literacy rate is 73.3%. Literacy is only the starting point towards an education.

u r right... this is the first time I have a real, serious motivation to vote. but the irony is, i don't find anyone worth the mandate.. all have their sinister flaws... about time we, as a youth, get deeply involved in politics as many of our elders cajole us to be.. there's this site called jagore.com motivating the youth to vote.. I am going to spend a lot of time there one of these days.
thanks for your candid and thoughtful response on the blog

Today we have reached a state were one man is another's enemy.
Terrorists are also human like you and me, but all the look for is
destruction. Its sad to see what our generation is going through at
this point in time. Its high time that each one of us across the seven
seas, various continents, varied races and unique cultures stand and
raise our voices, together in one voice state that we can on longer
tolerate terrorism. That we can show theses people that we can
againist what is happening. better to do something rather than nothing
at all. So what do we want from you, pretty simple join hands with us
in our attempt to wipe this dirty germ off our system. And that is not
all we request you to speak with your friends, relatives, everyone

Isn't it time to get an understanding of how our administartors are?

We, including you and me are the highly educated lot, with wisdom to understand good from bad, but we are also confused, who should run our governments!

I would say, its time to cooperate among ourselves and find solutions and propose them to govt. or administration and get them done!

hello all,

Nobody fits the mandate..true..but we need to begin by voting for the lesser evil..

we as individuals need to constantly voice our views against attacks on the democracy of our country

these attacks which often come from within our political system only aid terrorism in its motives...

let us ensure that our leaders care for humanity and not for personal power and glory...

So far i am proud that India has acted wiht restraint and not blindly called war on Pakistan...we need to join hands and snuff out only the terorist outfits!

We need to defeat the terrorists by showing them that India will remain a democracy moving towards progress no matter what!

India is one country which truely has 'unity in diversity' and it is this strength that has bought us so far and will continue to take us higher and higher....

(fingers crossed) :)
